Pair of tie rod ends for an ATV: the photo marks the same M 10 mm mark on both the shank and the pin.

  • Two photos show both ends separately, and each carries two M 10 mm marks: one arrow covers the vertical pin, the other the horizontal threaded shank. So on this end both threads are the same – M 10
  • Next to each M 10 mm mark a rotation arrow is drawn. Which of them marks a left-hand thread, the maker did not write, so we do not state the turning direction
  • The photo shows a yellow zinc-plated body, a black rubber cap on the ball, a castellated nut with a split-pin hole and a lock nut on the shank
  • The other three pairs in this line are marked as follows: one has an M12 shank and an M10 pin, another has both M12, and the third, like this one, has M10 on both threads – only for that one the thread direction is also additionally stated
  • The end is chosen by two things: the thread size at the rod's end and the pin thread by which it is fastened to the lever. If even one does not match, the part stays on the shelf
  • On steering rods, one end usually has a left-hand thread and the other a right-hand thread: this lets the rod's length be adjusted without turning the ends themselves. Turning the rod moves both ends at the same time
