Starter (starting) intermediate relay 4 poles

Starter intermediate relay with 4 poles: 12 V, 40 A and a contact diagram with numbers 30, 87, 85 and 86 are stamped on the housing. Compare it with your old relay while you still have it.

• The intermediate relay exists so the full starter current does not have to pass through the start button: the button only energises the relay coil, while the relay's own contacts close the high-current circuit
• 12 V and 40 A are stamped on the top surface – there are no other electrical figures on the part
• The same place has a drawn diagram: 30 and 87 are joined with a switch symbol, while 85 and 86 are joined with a rectangle, which in diagrams stands for the coil
• The housing is black plastic, with a bent-out mounting lug and a round opening in it; the contacts are four flat blade terminals, all on one side, of different widths
• Next to the contacts themselves there are small markings moulded into the housing, but from the angles we have they are only partly legible
• The photo gives neither the dimensions, nor the contact width, nor the socket type, nor the wire colours

To be straight with you: which of your wiring's wires goes to 30, which to 87, which to 85 and which to 86, the maker did not specify, and we do not guess: swap the coil and power contacts and either the relay or the starter circuit suffers. Which model and which years this relay is for is also not written. Before ordering, measure the width of your old relay's contacts and their layout, send us a photo of the old part – we will check it before you order.
