Fuel filter KY-B-006: a clear cone-shaped body that holds back rust and sediment from the tank so they never reach the carburettor.

  • It goes into the fuel hose between the tank and the carburettor; both ends are worth pulling tight with hose clips
  • The body is clear and cone-shaped — you see when the element is furred up instead of waiting for the engine to choke
  • When to change it: the engine pulls normally at first, and after a few kilometres starts to choke — often it is not the carburettor at fault but a blocked filter or tap
  • Look for fuel hoses and hose clips in the "Hoses" category, and fuel taps in the "Fuel taps" category
