Generator windings (stator) for the ATV200 quad, 8-pole – the only stator in this line with measurements on the photo.

• The stator is the stationary part of the generator: a magnet spins around it, and current builds up in the windings, which charges the battery and powers the ignition
• You can recognise a burnt-out stator by blackened windings, a burnt smell, a battery that will not charge, and a spark that disappears once the engine is warm
• The photo marks the mounting hole gaps as 28 mm, 40 mm and 32 mm, and the sensor bracket as 35 mm; put your old stator next to it and compare these four numbers
• Six wires can be counted in the same photo; the name says eight poles — this is not a contradiction, the number of wires and the number of poles do not have to match
• Before replacing it, measure the winding resistance and the insulation resistance to earth: quite often the fault is not the stator but the voltage regulator or oxidised connector contacts
• The pole count alone is not enough: the plate diameter, the number of wires and the connector type must all match too — compare it with your old stator
