Generator windings (stator) for an AM6 engine, 12-pole – a replacement coil plate for a burnt-out one.

• The stator is the stationary part of the generator: a magnet spins around it, and current builds up in the windings, which charges the battery and powers the ignition
• You will recognize a burnt-out stator by blackened windings, a smell of burning, a battery that will not charge, and a spark that disappears once the engine warms up
• Before replacing it, measure the windings' resistance and the insulation resistance to earth: quite often it is not the stator at fault, but the voltage regulator or oxidised connector contacts
• We take the pole count from the name – in the photo part of the coils is covered by the wiring loom, so we do not recount them
• The AM6 is a common Minarelli-type engine, fitted in many 50 cc motorcycles; here the pole count matters more than the brand
• The pole count alone is not enough: the plate diameter, the number of wires and the connector type must also match – compare with your old stator
