Starter B&S 500E – a black housing with a textured surface, covered by a grille of curved ribs, a rectangular hollow handle, and two mounting holes on the bottom edge. Compare with your old starter before ordering.

• This is a recoil-start unit: pulling the rope out spins the engine, and once released it winds back inside.
• The ribs are grouped into three fan shapes that meet at the flat centre of the housing, with a small recess in the middle.
• Through the slots between the ribs you can see the rope wound up inside.
• There are also a few short protruding tabs on the bottom edge; no other mounting holes can be seen from this angle.
• The photo gives no housing diameter, no distance between the holes and no rope length.
