Carburettor mixture enricher mechanical DELLORTO, screw-on

Mechanical choke (mixture enricher), DELLORTO. This part temporarily feeds a cold engine a richer mixture – without it, the engine starts with difficulty or stalls right away. In everyday speech it is called a choke.

• Mechanical: you control it with a lever or a cable – when to switch it off is up to you
• Mounting – clamped on with a bolt: check how yours is held, because chokes of the same type are mounted differently
• It fails in two ways: either it stops enriching altogether – the cold engine will not start until you add throttle, while a warm engine runs fine; or it sticks on – the engine guzzles petrol, smokes, and the spark plug sools up
• Compare with your own: the body shape, the mounting and the position of the lever or cable – that is what the photos are for
