Carburettor mixture enricher electric, bolt-on

Electric mixture enricher, fastened with a screw. This part temporarily feeds the cold engine a richer mixture – without it, the engine is hard to start or stalls right away. In everyday speech it's called the choke.

• Electric: connect it to power, it warms up, and once warm it stops enriching by itself – nothing to press or pull
• Mounting – fastened with a screw: check how yours is held, because enrichers of the same type are mounted differently
• Fails in two ways: either it stops enriching altogether – the cold engine won't start until you give it throttle, but once warm it runs fine; or it gets stuck on – the engine guzzles petrol, smokes, and the spark plug soots up
• Compare it with your own: the body shape, the connector and where the wires sit – that's what the photos are for
